Hi! I’m in the process of growing an organization called Centered with the goal of spreading awareness about and access to mental health resources for student athletes. Centered needs to be a group effort to be successful, and if you’re reading this then it’s because I thought you might be interested in being a part of this.
Some volunteering opportunities:
- Writing blog posts (either about your experiences relating to mental health + sports/school or about other related topics)
- Participating in interviews, either for our blog, as part of a video interview series, on a podcast, or something else
- Manning phones or email as part of a student help-line (super important and really fulfilling)
- Helping to spread the word about Centered
- Posting on social
- Wearing Centered shirts, pins, hats, etc at sports events
- Discussing with fellow athletes, teammates, coaches
- Assist with workshops for teams or sports organizations to help them process the emotional/mental side of sports
- Present at official workshops about your experience
- Train to be a workshop leader and help run workshops on you own
Lots of possibilities. Not only does all of this genuinely help the community, but it’s also an opportunity to showcase leadership, responsibility, initiative, etc. If you’re interested, let me know! If you don’t think you can help but know of someone who might be interested, let me know that too. 🙂
Thanks so much,
Laura
